About Jarred and Freeport Marine Services

Jarred is a naval architect and marine engineer with a strong academic background in vessel design, analysis, and compliance. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the United States Coast Guard Academy, followed by a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a Master of Science in Engineering in Concurrent Marine Design from the University of Michigan.

He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the states of Maine and Virginia, holds a U.S. Coast Guard 100-Ton Master’s License with Auxiliary Sail and Assistance Towing Endorsements, and is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).

Jarred’s professional experience spans vessel operations, design review, inspection, construction oversight, and regulatory compliance. He began his career afloat as the Damage Control Assistant and Assistant Engineer Officer aboard USCGC Valiant. He later served as a Staff Naval Architect in the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Center Small Vessel Branch where he also served on the elite Salvage Engineering Response Team (SERT), providing remote and on-scene engineering support for technically complex maritime salvage cases. Following his time at the MSC he held roles as a Marine Inspector at Sector New York and a Marine Engineer at Bath Iron Works. He then worked as an Engineer and Project Engineer with the U.S. Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Bath, overseeing ship construction and technical compliance. In 2023 he returned to Active Duty with the Coast Guard and returned to serve as a Senior Naval Architect in the Marine Safety Center Small Vessel Branch.

This combination of operational experience, shipyard engineering, and regulatory oversight allows Jarred to provide practical, technically sound, and defensible engineering solutions tailored to the needs of marine and maritime clients.
